LCP Update and Accnoument of Mfecane Part II!


Sawubona all!

It's been a hot second since the last update- just over a year!- and folks really seem to be enjoying the content. In the time since the last update, I've been able to get my hands dirty and gain game design exp by writing the Massif Press 1st party module, A Siren's Song, A Mountain Remorse. It's been a year-long endeavor and only now is it finally coming to a close, and I'm able to focus my attention back on Mfecane, my passion project. This update was a long time coming and reflects some much needed clarity and balance changes to every mech and NPC. You can see the change log below. 

What's Next?

This update focuses primarily on mechanical balance changes to GM and player side content. Small adjustments have been made to the quality of the pdf via grammar corrections and such. But I'll be hiring a professional editor to go through the whole thing, cus honestly, it's about damn time. 

  • Later this year I'll be updating the adventure Kal Tur's Golden Eye, as this update doesn't reflect any changes to that adventure

Big News 
Work on the second part of the field guide has begun! Ha, a second part? yeah, a second part. After reading and playing in the world I created in part 1,  I often found myself wanting more to go off of. More deep lore, more struggles to dive into, more gm tools, and ofc more MECHS! So, I and a few friends have begun the early stages of developing content for part II which will focus on the Impi War Order, its 13 sub-divisions, and their fight to quell the instability in the Endle- wild space. 

I've always wanted to make a published book I could hold and just generally be proud of- it's been a dream since I started this writing and game design journey just 3 years ago. So, the big plan is that beginning in Spring 2024 we will launch the Kickstarter for part II, which will complete part 1. We haven't thought much about the organization of the FG as were still very early on in writing but details will be later this year.

Core Bonues 

  • Changed Chest Formation to a reaction when at half or less than half HP

Ibutho

  • Near complete trait overhaul
  • Subdermal simplified to just reducing dmg- lost heat gimmick 
  • L1 - Ingoma Sing invade option changed to trigger off any attack while baddie is in threat of your melee weapons
  • L3- The Crushing removed +2 dmg to activate and AP language

amaDolozi-

  • Changed Short Blast Terraforming Cannon from Loading to ordnance and inaccurate and made difficult terrain permanent
  • Changed Umgodi cannons effect from "start of turn" to "end of turn"
  • change switching it's integrated to a free action
  • change Assagai to Assegai

Cetshwayo

  • •changed Assagai of the king to have baddie take heat from weapon on hit. Up'd its SP cost to 3

Grootslang

  • removed the blast tag from MH:AWtC
  • changed Self Guided shields to be able to be attached to allies and grant 1 dmg reduction and slowed while attached
  • removed self heat from GPW and soft cover benefit and upp'd cost to grant invisibility to 3 heat per character who benefits
  • removed self heat from MS:CUTB- upped cost to reload to 3 heat

Exotic

  • Sajambok - added before attack lang


FG to MFC Part 1 Copend:

2.2 pre-update lcp with changes to Walan and Nkala

Isitawalangecegce (Walen)- changed to work more with exposing itself and become more combat effective

  • changed My Path is Forward to gain OS only when boosting full speed in a straight. 
  • Change was made because the Walan was very un-interactable save for killing or stunning it.
  • Changed Meta Folded Combat Armor to essentially give immunity to exposed by granting resistance.
  • Changed Heat Pulsar Gauntlets to 1 attack that triggers off being exposed.
  • Changed compressed thrust rifle entirely and to benefit from knocking hostiles into each other with Heat Pulsar guantlets
  • Balanced stats, lowered hp- scaled speed and Heat cap


Nkala

  • switched its base systems around
  • removed Underdweller
  • Changed Ground Possession to work more like Burrower from the Monstrosity class also added in benefits to creating cover, and removed hidden but kept invisibility.
  • changed System Flyer Wires cus it was broken and too mean, also moved it to an optional 
  • Add System Dampener Spike as a base system as it complimented SPCG too well
  • SYW changed to be less oppressive
  • Body Shield - When grappling a hostile character, the Nkala imposes +2 difficulty to ranged and melee attacks targeting it from characters it is not grappling for as long as they remain grappled to a hostile.

Tokolosh

  • Reflexive system wipe only affects accuracy and is now 1/round
